HKR Episode 2.1 - Quency Phillips ("Q"), Bay Area LISC Community Engagement Manager

For our First Episode of 2019, we had Quency Phillips (“Q”) in the studio to talk about the Community and Economic Development Funding Landscape and the work that the Local Initiative Support Corporation (LISC) is doing to connect donor funds and community organizations.

Last year, LISC announced a partnership that created the Catalyst Housing Fund with an initial investment from Facebook of $18.5 million to, “pursue innovative and scalable ways to increase the construction and protection of affordable housing.” See Press Release

Quency Phillips has been building brands and cultivating communities for nearly 20 years. Strong relationships and recognition for brand innovation in sports, entertainment, philanthropy and not-for-profits have shaped his career.  His transition to Silicon Valley began as a Strategic Consultant for regional affordable housing organizations and local jurisdictions, where his strategic innovation and operations skill set positioned him as a voice not only in the affordable housing conversation, but in education, art, nonprofit governance, and community and economic development.

Quency is a Senior Fellow for the American Leadership Forum – Silicon Valley – assisting in Urban Innovation efforts for the region. A Social Good advocate, he is a proud member of the Board of Directors for three Silicon Valley and Bay Area organizations – SOMOS Mayfair, Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center, and Redwood City Police Activities League. In the past, he served on the Board of Directors for The Mosaic Project, while also serving on the Leadership Council for the Women’s Foundation of California.
