On Thursday, February 14th (Valentine’s Day) Amazon pulled out of their plans to locate a New York HQ office in Long Island City, Queens. The high profile deal and announcement sparked discussion and controversy about the nature of the deal, whether it was a good thing for local residents, and what the implications would be for New York as a whole. Much of the discussion had to do with the benefits that were being offered to Amazon, specifically the use Tax Credits as an incentive to make the deal happen.
